Our Ministries

We believe that everyone plays a vibrant role in the life of the church and the many ministries in the church reflect the numerous opportunities available for everyone to participate and share their strengths and talents.  Our primary ministries are:  Christian Education, Congregational Care, Fellowship, Outreach, Stewardship, Personnel, Property, and Worship and Music.  Under those major categories several other ministries exist including a Bible Study class, Angel Boxes, DASH, Prayer Quilts, and much more.

Marriage

Preparations

We are so happy for you that you are now engaged and thinking about marrying in the First Presbyterian Church.  Please take a few moments to read over the wedding policy for the church which you will find in a drop down tab under Ministries.  After reading that please contact our minister for any additional questions that you may have.

Women's
Ministry

All women of First Presbyterian Church are members of Presbyterian Women (PW).  All women are welcome to participate in the PW study groups (circles) and activities.  Opportunities for fellowship are available in two circles as well as a variety of other yearly activities identified in the Presbyterian Women's Annual Directory.  The study groups are identified as the Reflections Circle which meets each third (3rd) Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Town & Country Circle which meets each fourth (4th) Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.  Super Star Members:  Each study group includes a Shepherd's Circle composed of the church's Super Stars, those men and women who can no longer actively participate in church events and for whom active Presbyterian Women serve as caregivers. Beginning in September 2023 the Reflections Circle will be studying the book Good Boundaries & Goodbyes by Lysa Terkeurst and the Town & Country circle will finish up the book of Ruth in September.  From there they are doing a study of Women in the Bible moving through God's Word and learning lessons from those many named and unnamed Women from both Testaments.  The Presbyterian Women have an annual Christmas tradition helping CASA.  Each year CASA gives gift cards to the older kids (12 to 18) in Foster Care in our area.  Along with the Presbyterian Women's donation, we ask the congregation to help, also.  If you can please make checks to:  "Presbyterian Women" and write "CASA" in the memo and place it in the offering plate.  Thank you for your generosity.  The deadline is Sunday, December 10th.

Volunteer

Groups

We participate in and support several different organizations.  Among them are: DASH (Delivery & Service to Homebound) which operates on weekends and holidays since Meals on Wheels is a weekday service.  Our church has participated since 2002, serving on the 4th Saturday of the even months and on all 5th Saturdays regardless of the month.  There currently are 10 routes and volunteers regularly serve an average of 110-120 meals; Angel boxes- these are boxes which members paint and then distribute to hospitals to give to parents who have lost an infant.

Music

Ministry

Music is an important part of our church life.  Choir practice is every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.   Anyone interested in joining the choir should contact Jeff Schleff, choir director at the church.
